Medical Guardian, a leader in medical alert technology and remote monitoring, and Mom’s Meals, a leading comprehensive food as medicine solutions provider, are bringing targeted recovery support to aging adults recently discharged from the hospital.

Through this new benefit, Medical Guardian will cover the cost of Mom’s Meals for its private-pay members who are recovering at home after a hospitalization resulting from an emergency dispatch through their medical alert device. These medically tailored meals are developed by registered dietitians and professional chefs to meet a range of dietary needs, including diabetes, heart disease, renal conditions, and gluten intolerance. The meals are packaged for convenient storage in the refrigerator for at least 14 days from delivery; ready to heat, eat and enjoy in minutes to promote independence, ease, and dignity during recovery.

These meals are delivered directly to members’ homes and are part of Medical Guardian’s broader commitment to holistic, wraparound care that supports members before, during, and after a medical event.

“The support someone receives after they leave the hospital often determines whether they return in the days that follow,” said Geoff Gross, Founder and CEO of Medical Guardian. “That’s why this benefit is so meaningful. We’re not just responding to emergencies—we’re helping members stay independent and recover with strength and dignity by removing one of the largest barriers to healing: access to nutritious food at home when they need it most.”

Hospital readmissions remain a major challenge for healthcare systems, particularly among older adults. Malnutrition is a key contributor—patients who are malnourished during hospitalization are 54% more likely to be readmitted within 30 days [AHRQ/MQii]. Despite its impact, up to half of hospitalized patients are at risk for malnutrition, yet it often goes unnoticed and untreated [JAMDA].

As part of Medical Guardian’s ongoing member engagement and care, the company’s Wellness Team checks in on members following a hospital stay. For those eligible, the team will assist in redeeming the covered meal benefit, walking members through how to select their meals and schedule delivery either online or by phone. This proactive support helps reduce friction during a vulnerable time, ensuring members can access the care and nourishment they need to recover.

This benefit reflects a growing understanding that recovery doesn’t end when a hospital stay does—it continues at home, where the right support can make all the difference. By combining responsive emergency technology with personalized nutrition from Mom’s Meals, Medical Guardian is bridging the gap from crisis response to proactive recovery—redefining what it means to support aging adults, one meal and one member at a time.
