Troubleshooting Mobile Guardian

Don’t worry — all of the lights blinking is a good thing! The blinking lights on the unit will indicate three things (from left to right):

  1. The red light indicates the battery level. When your Mobile Guardian is sitting in the charging cradle and the red light goes off, your portable device is fully charged. When your Mobile Guardian is not sitting in the charging cradle and the red light starts blinking, you have about an hour of battery power left.
  2. The green light indicates that you have an established cellular connection. When the cellular connection is strong, this light will steadily flash green. If the green light is flashing rapidly, it means that your Mobile Guardian has poor cellular connection.
  3. The amber light indicates your GPS signal. When your GPS connection is strong, this light will flash slowly. If this light does not flash at all, it means that your Mobile Guardian has a poor GPS connection.

A flashing light on your charging cradle is fine — it indicates that your portable device is currently charging. When the light on your charging cradle goes off, your device is fully charged.

If you continue to leave your Mobile Guardian’s portable device in the cradle while you’re at home, the light on the cradle will come back on after some time as the portable device loses some of its charge.

To make sure that the light is working properly, simply take the portable device out of the cradle and place it back in — you will see the yellow light illuminate once the device has been placed back in the cradle.

  1. Double check that the charging cradle is not plugged into an outlet that’s controlled by a light switch. Double check that it’s also not plugged into an extension cord or a surge protector.
  2. Double check that the portable device is placed right side up in the charging cradle — both the pins on the cradle and the portable device will need to align for the device to charge.
  3. If the pins on both the portable device and the charging cradle are connected and the device still isn’t charging, please try moving the charging cradle to a new outlet that’s not controlled by a light switch, an extension cord, or a surge protector, please move the charging cradle to another power outlet not controlled by a light switch.
  4. If the portable device still isn’t charging, please pull the power cord out of the charging cradle and plug it directly into the portable device. On the side of the portable device, there is a grey port underneath the power button — this will pop open and you should plug the power cord into the connector here.
