Troubleshooting Your Home Guardian

  1. Make sure that the power switch is in the “ON” position.
  2. Double check that your Home Guardian’s base station is not plugged into an outlet that’s controlled by a light switch. Double check that it’s also not plugged into an extension cord or a surge protector.
  3. If the power switch is in the “ON” position and the base station has not been plugged into an outlet controlled by a light switch, an extension cord, or a surge protector, move the base station to another power outlet not controlled by a light switch.

Please note
If after following these steps your base station still does not turn on, please call our Customer Care team at 1-800-313-1191.

When your Home Guardian is powered on for the first time, it may take a few minutes to establish a connection with the closest cell tower. Once the base station has fully connected, the time and date will automatically update.

If after 10-15 minutes the time and date display are still incorrect, try moving the base station closer to a window with a clear line of sight to the sky for a stronger signal.

There are a set of volume control buttons on the front of your Home Guardian’s base station. Please press either the + or the – to raise or lower the volume.

Having only 1 or 2 bars should not result in poor service. Having any amount — even a small amount — of cellular connectivity means that the unit should connect without a problem. You can ensure that your device is connecting without issue by doing a test, and we also suggest that you test more often than the recommended one time per month.

Please note
If after testing, you still have concerns about connectivity, please call our Customer Care team at 1-800-313-1191.
